Timothy B. Caprez

Senior Counsel

Tim Caprez has devoted his career to helping clients in highly regulated industries navigate the complexities of their legal landscapes. With his counsel, they accomplish organizational objectives and optimize outcomes for those they serve. Leveraging extensive in-house counsel and leadership experience in healthcare and private practice experience across multiple markets, Tim easily translates legal-speak into plain-speak to design and execute creative corporate governance and commercial transaction strategies that make legal compliance a competitive advantage for his clients.

Having represented transformative public and private entities across the spectrum of industries and, in particular, healthcare sector innovators in settings and deals of all shapes and sizes, Tim has developed deep expertise in corporate transactions and the myriad of stringent fraud and abuse, data privacy, patient care and product education and promotion restrictions impacting medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturers, healthcare providers and institutions, clinical laboratories and research organizations. Tim immerses himself in his client’s mission and devises particularized approaches to empower the client with an ability to “see around corners” and proactively meet both corporate and personal compliance responsibilities. His own experience as a client of various law firms during his time as an executive at a publicly-traded company informs the exceptional client service and practical advice he now provides at Dykema.

Tim's diverse transactional background includes mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, real estate and financing transactions, research and development activities, and the negotiation and execution of sophisticated commercial and licensing arrangements. Tim’s corporate governance experience ranges from the development and implementation of legal and compliance policies and procedures across the entire spectrum of an organization’s risk profile to engaging in strategic planning meetings and ad hoc consultations with boards of directors and c-suite executives.

Because of the breadth and depth of his experience, Tim is an invaluable advisor to his clients on various types of corporate disclosures, including securities filings, investor and public relations communications, earnings calls, press releases, and product information. He also possesses the unique combination of the hard and soft skills needed to effectively serve as “the face” of the company in various internal settings, whether that involves the confidential receipt and investigation of employee concerns in one-on-one settings or presenting company policies and messaging to hundreds of employees.
