Real Estate Lending, Finance, and Workouts

In an increasing diverse lending environment, financings for real estate projects have become more complicated. If you are a financial institution involved in real estate lending, our real estate finance team can help facilitate the process to get projects funded efficiently. Similarly, if the real estate project you have financed is in distress, we can advise lenders on the best options for achieving positive results.

“We enjoy working with the lending team for their knowledge and attention to detail in getting the deal closed.” - Client, Chambers USA

Our team has extensive national experience representing clients in all areas of real estate finance. We have advised nearly 40 national, local, and foreign banking and other financial institutions in commercial loan transactions, making us the adviser of choice for lenders.

We assist in structuring the financing for projects, negotiating and drafting the documents for loan and equity transactions, and closing transactions. We act in concert with our client’s internal team and take the time to build relationships and understand the client’s internal processes to find practical approaches to transactions.

Our clients are engaged in all types of complex financing transactions including:

  • Acquisition and development loans
  • Construction loans
  • Revolving credit loans (both secured and unsecured)
  • Secured and unsecured
  • Representing the agent lender in syndicated credit transactions
  • Mezzanine loans
  • Affordable housing loans
  • Credit enhancements
  • Bond financings
  • TIF transactions and other forms of public financing
  • Equity transactions

In addition, with extensive experience representing financial institutions in credit transactions and in bankruptcy proceedings, we can help lenders identify options and strategies that will maximize their recovery in workouts and troubled loans. Additionally, we represent rated special servicers of CMBS (commercial mortgage backed securities) portfolios in the resolution of defaulted loans.
