Abad Lopez Earns 2025 Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois (HLAI) Latino Lawyer of the Year Award

Dykema is proud to announce that Abad Lopez was selected by the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois (HLAI) to receive its 2025 Latino Lawyer of the Year Award. Lopez and other awardees will be celebrated in person at the 2025 HLAI Annual Gala on October 3 at the Palmer House Chicago.
According to the HLAI, the honorees exemplify excellence, service, and leadership in the law and have made a meaningful and lasting impact on our profession and the Latino community. Specifically, the Latino Lawyer of the Year Award recognizes a lawyer with 10 or more years of experience who exhibits professionalism and civility; character and integrity; legal acumen; and service to the legal profession. Additionally, the honoree has shown significant contributions to the Hispanic and Latinx community; significant contributions to improving the quality of the legal profession or the administration of justice; and membership and service to HLAI.
Lopez serves as Assistant Practice Group Leader of Dykema's Labor and Employment Practice Group. His employment practice includes counseling clients on disciplinary actions and investigations, negotiating severance and executive employment agreements, and reviewing employment practices. Lopez regularly represents clients throughout the country in class action and multi-plaintiff employment discrimination and harassment lawsuits, state law overtime class actions, wrongful discharge matters, privacy claims, FLSA collective actions, and trade secret and restrictive covenant matters.
