According to The Hill, the 2025 honorees are among “the industry’s savviest, most influential and well-connected advocates,” recognized for making measurable impacts during a year marked by sweeping policy shifts, political volatility, and significant federal workforce and regulatory changes.
With more than 20 years of experience, Andrew Buczek helps clients develop and advance effective federal legislative, regulatory, and political strategies. He works with nonprofit organizations, higher education institutions, local governments, and private industry across issues including appropriations, tax, manufacturing, transportation, housing, and science and technology. Prior to joining Dykema, Buczek served as a senior legislative assistant to Congressman Jim Barcia, advising on education, energy, financial services, health care, and manufacturing policy, and acting as the congressman’s principal advisor on science and technology issues before the House Science Committee. He has also played key roles in numerous national political campaigns and conventions and serves on Dykema’s Political Action Committee Board.
Mary Beth McGowan serves as a trusted advocate for clients navigating Congress and the Executive Branch. Acting as her clients’ eyes and ears in Washington, she works with corporations, trade associations, and local governments to develop legislative strategies, identify funding opportunities, and build relationships with key federal decision-makers. McGowan began her career on Capitol Hill working for U.S. Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) and has represented Dykema's federal government relations clients since 2008 on issues including clean air and water, tax and trade, supply chains, federal procurement policy, the appropriations process, and federal budgetary matters. Known for her ability to move nuanced issues through complex legislative and regulatory channels, she delivers incremental wins that make a difference.
