Dykema, a leading national law firm, announced today that Bob Linton has been appointed Director of the firm’s Real Estate and Environmental Department and that Dan Schairbaum was appointed as Leader of the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group. The appointments became effective on January 1, 2023.

Linton, who is based in Dykema’s Chicago office, assumes the role of Department Director following Kyle Hauberg, who successfully served the firm in this position for the past 11 years. Linton has held several other important leadership roles for Dykema, including as the immediate past Leader of its Real Estate Practice Group, a member of its Executive Board, Leader of its Technology Advisory Committee, and a member of the Practice Group Subcommittee of Dykema’s Mansfield Rule Task Force.

In his practice, Linton provides counsel for commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions, real estate finance, development, and condominium issues. He is especially recognized for his work in commercial leasing matters, having handled thousands of office, retail, and industrial lease transactions on behalf of both landlords and tenants.

Linton has received substantial professional recognition throughout his career, including being named a Leading Real Estate Lawyer by Chambers USA for five consecutive years and being recognized for Real Estate Law by The Best Lawyers in America® each year since 2017. He earned a J.D., cum laude, from the Georgetown University Law Center and B.A. from the University of Michigan.

Based in Dykema’s Detroit office, Schairbaum steps into Linton’s previous role as Real Estate Practice Group Leader. In his full-service real estate practice, he counsels clients on acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, zoning, and land use in projects involving multi-family, retail, education, and manufacturing properties. Schairbaum also negotiates complex design and construction contracts and helps borrowers secure financing from banks and other lenders.

Schairbaum was named 2023 Detroit “Lawyer of the Year” for Real Estate Law by The Best Lawyers in America® and has been listed in the publication each of the past four years. He’s also been named a Leader Real Estate Lawyer by Chambers USA multiple times. Schairbaum received a J.D., cum laude, from the University of Detroit Mercy and a B.A., cum laude, from Hope College.
