Dykema, a leading national law firm, is pleased to announce the addition of Jasper Mason and Warren B. Wise, each as Senior Counsel in the firm’s Houston office. Mason joins Dykema’s Corporate Finance Practice Group and will also work closely with the firm’s Oil & Gas team, while Wise joins the firm’s Product Liability and Class Action Litigation practice group. Together, the two attorneys further strengthen Dykema’s capabilities in Houston across sophisticated energy transactions and complex litigation.

“Jasper and Warren are outstanding additions whose experience aligns extremely well with the needs of our clients and the strategic plan for the continued growth of our Houston office,” said Isaac Villarreal, Managing Member of Dykema’s Houston Office. “Jasper brings a deep understanding of the oil and gas industry from both the legal and business sides, while Warren adds significant trial experience defending companies in complex, high-stakes litigation. Their arrival strengthens two important areas of our Houston platform and further enhances our ability to serve clients throughout Texas and nationally.”

Mason is an experienced oil and gas transactions attorney who advises exploration and production companies, private equity-backed businesses, investors, and other energy industry participants on acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and commercial agreements involving upstream and midstream oil and gas assets. His experience spans private practice as well as senior in-house legal and commercial roles, including positions with Marathon Oil Corporation and Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP.

Drawing on his combination of legal and commercial experience, Mason advises clients on conventional and unconventional energy projects involving onshore and offshore assets. His work includes joint operating agreements, leasehold and wellbore assignments, ancillary commercial agreements, due diligence, regulatory obligations, mineral and surface access, and other matters affecting exploration and production operations. He has represented clients in significant transactions involving assets across major U.S. oil and gas regions, including a strategic partnership in the Permian Basin with an enterprise value exceeding $3 billion.

Mason is Board Certified in Oil, Gas, and Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and is a Certified Professional Landman through the American Association of Professional Landmen. He has also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Houston Law Center since 2018, teaching Texas Law of Oil and Gas. Mason earned his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center, a Master of International Affairs from Texas A&M University’s Bush School of Government and Public Service, and a B.A., cum laude, from the University of Houston.

Wise is an experienced litigation and trial attorney who represents businesses and individuals in complex civil matters involving product liability, commercial vehicle and trucking accidents, workplace injuries, toxic torts, construction disputes, personal injury, and wrongful death claims. He joins Dykema from MehaffyWeber, where he was a shareholder and maintained an active trial practice representing clients in Texas state and federal courts.

Throughout his career, Wise has handled high-exposure litigation for construction companies, energy and oil-and-gas businesses, and other corporate clients. His experience includes first-chair jury trials, arbitration proceedings, dispositive motion practice, and appellate matters. Among other results, he has secured favorable jury verdicts and summary judgments defending his clients in personal injury cases with multi-million dollar damage claims.

Wise earned his J.D. from Baylor Law School and a B.S. in Sport Management and Business from Texas A&M University.

Dykema opened its Houston office in 2022, marking the firm’s fourth location in Texas after Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio. Since then, the firm has continued to expand the office’s capabilities in areas central to the Houston market and to clients nationwide, including energy, corporate and finance, restructuring and bankruptcy, labor and employment, immigration, healthcare, real estate, construction, and litigation.
