Robert A. Boonin, Detroit and Ann Arbor-based member in Dykema’s Labor and Employment Practice Group, was quoted in the SHRM article, “Fear of Coronavirus Isn’t Covered by FFCRA.”

In the article, Boonin and others discuss the six criteria for paid leave under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (“FFCRA”). As Boonin notes, fear of contracting COVID-19 is not one of the criteria listed, nor is a lack of daycare availability, unless the employee can “establish a need to be home with the child and that he or she could not telework.”
