Paul Laurenza, Mike Stolarski to Speak at Connected Vehicle Summit

Dykema Attorneys to Examine Liability, Regulatory and Intellectual Property Issues Related to Connected Vehicle Technologies

August 15, 2013

Paul M. Laurenza, Office Managing Member of the Firm’s Washington, D.C. office—whose practice includes representation of clients in the automotive, consumer product and other manufactured goods sectors on matters often involving product safety regulation and liability—and Michael Stolarski, a Chicago-based member and leader of Dykema’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group, have been invited to speak at the 4th Summit on the Future of the Connected Vehicle, presented by the Connected Vehicle Trade Association (CVTA) with event partner and sponsor, Michigan Department of Transportation.

The two-day event, which will take place on September 9 and 10, 2013 in Novi, Michigan, is scheduled to attract hundreds of senior executives from automaker companies, Tier 1 and 2 suppliers, hardware/software and communication enterprises, insurers and state/federal government officials.

Laurenza, who in addition to his Dykema duties serves as Vice Chairman of the CVTA, will address liability issues in the “connected” world, including legal precedents potentially relevant to connected vehicles, the potential impact of federal regulation on product liability, and liability-related distinctions between connected and automated vehicles.

Stolarski will discuss current IP issues that relate to various forms of in-car connectivity (such as passive and active safety/security, connected lifestyle services, and customer and vehicle relationship management services) and telematics. Stolarski will also provide insights into the legal implications of emerging new technologies and likely areas of future IP-related litigation.

Laurenza and Stolarski are scheduled to present to conference attendees Tuesday morning, September 10. To learn more about the CVTA Summit on the Future of the Connected Vehicle, or to register for this event, click here.
