Jennifer D. Cruz

Senior Attorney

Jennifer Cruz is a senior attorney in Dykema’s Restructuring and Bankruptcy practice group, based in the firm’s Houston office. Strategic and steady in her approach, she advises clients in Texas state courts and the United States Bankruptcy Courts on matters designed to protect assets, enforce creditor rights, and optimize recovery.

As a Houston bankruptcy attorney focused on creditors’ rights, Jennifer counsels national and regional banks, financial institutions, and commercial lenders in complex consumer and commercial bankruptcy matters. She represents clients in Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings, restructurings, debtor-creditor disputes, bankruptcy litigation, loan workouts, and unfair trade practice claims, helping them mitigate risk and maximize recovery in distressed situations.

Jennifer brings valuable courtroom perspective from her service as a judicial law clerk to the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California and as a staff attorney to a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Trustee in the Western District of Louisiana. This experience provides her with practical insight into court procedures, trustee administration, lien priority disputes, claim objections, and the strategic considerations that influence outcomes in bankruptcy cases.

Licensed to practice in Texas and Louisiana, Jennifer represents creditors in bankruptcy courts across Houston and throughout the Gulf Coast region. She advises financial institutions on creditor rights enforcement, debtor restructuring strategies, and insolvency risk management across a broad range of restructuring and bankruptcy matters.

She is committed to delivering strategic, business-focused guidance that aligns legal solutions with her clients’ operational and financial objectives.
