How Many Parcels Can You Create from a Piece of Michigan Land? (with Bel Martin and Sam Kilberg)
One Minute Matters Video Series
3.26.26
This week, Michigan landowners gained a lot more options.
Public Act 58 of 2025 is now in effect, increasing the number of parcels a landowner can create from the first 10 acres of a parent parcel from four to 10. This simple but meaningful change opens up development strategies that weren't viable under the old law.
Key takeaways:
- The base parcel limit increases from four to 10 for the first 10 acres.
- Larger tracts can now qualify for up to 11 additional parcels, making infill development, smaller residential projects, and creative land planning all more viable.
Bel Martin and Sam Kilberg break it all down in the latest One Minute Matters video.
