David J. Schenck

Member

A highly regarded trial and appellate lawyer, David Schenck leverages the perspective he gained as an appellate justice, the government-side insights he acquired as a Deputy Attorney General, and the advocacy skills he honed in countless cases to advance the interests of clients in a wide range of matters involving government oversight, regulation, or litigation.

David recognizes that every engagement, case, or issue he handles cannot and should not be viewed in isolation. For his clients in heavily regulated industries, in particular, David understands that how a given matter is addressed and resolved can have long-term implications that must be part of the calculus when developing a strategy or approach. This informs his interactions with government attorneys, regulators, and investigators and helps him find solutions that establish favorable precedents for his clients and the industries in which they operate.

David's clients span a broad spectrum of industries, including oil and gas, telecommunication, healthcare, and technology. He represents his clients in litigation and appeals, enforcement actions, and administrative proceedings, where his ability to craft compelling arguments and engage judges and appellate panels serves his clients well. David also provides proactive counseling on regulatory, tax, and other issues that intersect with state and federal government.

In addition to his commitment to clients, David is passionate about ensuring equal access to justice for individuals the legal system may otherwise leave behind. For his pro bono work promoting access to legal services for the poor, David received the President's Award from the Texas Bar Association, the organization's highest honor.

David has served on the adjunct faculty of the Southern Methodist University School of Law and the University of North Texas College of Law. He is board-certified in civil appellate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, a member of the American Law Institute, and a Barrister of the Patrick Higginbotham Inn of Court.

I look at every engagement, even those involving governmental scrutiny or adverse action, as an opportunity to create a more favorable legal environment for my clients. I seek resolutions that not only achieve immediate objectives but also lay the foundation for future success.
