Clients come to Jin-Kyu Koh looking for guidance and practical answers to their problems, and he treats those problems as if they were his own. Jin works relentlessly to identify solutions that remove obstacles, minimize risk, and help clients reach their business goals and objectives.

A business and corporate lawyer who often serves as outside general counsel, Jin represents public and private clients in many industries, including healthcare, financial services, information technology, casino gaming, sports and entertainment, and cannabis. Known and respected for his creative insight and advice, he is dedicated to understanding clients’ ambitions, motivations, and concerns and delivering bespoke solutions.

Jin has a sophisticated corporate finance practice built on years of experience negotiating and closing complex deals.

He is exceptionally skilled in mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt securities offerings, secured and unsecured debt facilities, angel and venture capital, and other financing transactions. Recognized by Chambers USA 2023 as “a leader in M&A who is equally skilled in the public and private sectors and is also well-versed in venture capital financing” clients turn to Jin for his sophisticated counsel.

Despite the volume of deals he has done, clients know Jin doesn’t “cut and paste” from one to the next; instead, he spots even the smallest differences that distinguish similar transactions, distinctions that can subject clients to unnecessary exposure if not addressed.

A frequent speaker and author, Jin has educated audiences on various corporate law, corporate governance, and business ethics topics.

Outside the office, he gives back to the community as a current board member of the Detroit Historical Society and past board member and chairman of the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan.

Clients have a lot of choices out there for lawyers. They hire me for the insight and advice I can give them, gathered and sharpened through decades of problem-solving experience.
