Liza Brooks focuses her practice on supply chain operations, health information technology and clinical research compliance. Working with a variety of health care providers and service providers within the health care industry, Liza enjoys developing innovative and collaborative strategies to help her clients meet their goals.

From vendor contracting to distribution, Liza advises clients on sourcing and procurement strategies that aim to mitigate risks, create efficiencies and reduce operational costs. Liza has experience negotiating a wide array of supply chain and information technology agreements, and having served in an in-house counsel capacity, she brings a unique perspective in understanding the business and operational pressures facing her clients. Additionally, Liza has experience advising clients on clinical research issues, including negotiating clinical trial agreements, managing conflicts of interests and providing advice regarding research operations and IRB issues.

Prior to joining Dykema, Liza served as in-house counsel to Trinity Health Corporation and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, providing strategic counseling on complex supply chain and information technology agreements and research compliance matters. She also provided legal support to each organization's EHR transition from the RFP process to serving on workgroups and advisory councils.

Liza received her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, where she served as the Secretary of the Michigan Health Law Organization and the Executive Note Editor of the Michigan Telecommunications & Technology Law Review. She graduated with honors from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in History, focusing her studies on the history of science, medicine and technology. In 2018, Liza earned a Certificate from the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School, where she further developed her skills in negotiation and informal dispute resolution. Liza is licensed to practice in Michigan and currently serves as the Chair of the Technology Committee of the Health Care Law Section for the State Bar of Michigan. Liza is also a member of the Issues & Legislative Committee for the Association for Health Care Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM), where she tracks legislation, regulatory updates, accreditation standards and quality of service issues that impact the ability of the healthcare supply chain to achieve performance excellence from a cost, quality and outcomes perspective. Finally, Liza serves on the American Hospital Association's Supply Chain Resource Council, which tracks the impact of supply shortages and disruptions within hospital and patient care settings, and captures and documents proposed solutions to these challenges.
