With a 360-degree perspective and over a decade of in-depth experience, oil and gas attorney Megan Knell provides clients with extensive knowledge and deep insights to help them facilitate transactions and capitalize on energy opportunities.

Throughout her career, Megan has been deeply involved in advising clients in connection with the acquisition, development, and disposition of oil and gas interests. She has represented clients in connection with various oil and gas plays in the United States, including the Eagle Ford, Haynesville, and Barnett Shales, and the Permian Basin of Texas and New Mexico.

Having counseled both exploration and production (E&P) and midstream companies, mineral buyers, as well as mineral owners and surface owners, Megan understands the concerns and priorities of all parties involved in upstream and midstream oil and gas transactions. This facilitates her ability to anticipate and efficiently address points of contention and resolve issues that could potentially threaten or delay a transaction. Her counsel is informed not only by her legal knowledge but also by her appreciation of the on-the-ground realities of oil and gas development.

Megan advises companies in complex upstream and midstream oil and gas transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, joint development arrangements, and resolution of operating and payment disputes. She also regularly advises mineral buyers in the acquisition of producing oil and gas interests and related title issues. Additionally, Megan’s recent transactions for mineral and surface owners include the negotiation of oil and gas leases, easements, surface use agreements, and surface waivers. Megan also has experience preparing drilling, acquisition, and division order title opinions.

The work I do has long-term repercussions for my clients, their rights, and their ability to maximize the value of their resources. That is why I prioritize providing them with the information and analysis they need to make informed decisions about how to proceed.
